Seeing the World Through Jumper Maybach’s Eyes

Some people just naturally see the world through different lenses, and, as a result, we all end up better for it.

Jumper Maybach (also known as Ben Workman) is the ultimate example of one of these remarkable personalities, truly embodying what it is to embrace individuality, spread love and share his vision through his art.  His journey wasn’t always easy, but as Jumper prepares for Art Basel in Miami next month, he is unquestionably at a new level of personal and professional growth.  In fact, he has brand new lenses, literally, to share with the world as he recently collaborated with OPR Eyewear to create a limited-edition eyewear collection. This is just one of a growing list of partnerships that are all bringing his art to life.

“We don’t just partner with just any great artist,” says Federica Scala, co-founder, OPR Eyewear.  “Jumper and OPR share a common mission to end hate, bullying and intolerance through art and fashion. Every single pair of the eyewear is infused with his art, all of which is about love and being who you are.”

So how does art jump from the walls to eyewear? If you spend even a few moments talking to this effervescent, larger-than-life artist, it’s incredibly easy to envision: his art, his charisma, literally jump out at you. You simply want to wear it, walk on it, own it – envelope yourself with all things Jumper. It goes beyond eyewear his new world – from bags to rugs to accessories – you can now, literally, wear his art.

It all started with inspiration from one of his paintings, Quantum Genesis.  It was from this piece of vibrant art, with limitless color, that the partnership with OPR Eyewear was born. The painting is described, in part, as representing the vivid dreamlands we create while awake or asleep and bringing kinetic energy to life. That is exactly what Jumper brings to anywhere he goes, simultaneously inspiring hope and spreading love to everyone that touches, wears, or looks at his art.

In September, I had the honor of attending the launch of his new eyewear line and to toast his other new fashion and lifestyle partners, including BIG LOVie, Ahdorned, V. Fraas and Proform.  Upon arriving the event at the OPR flagship store in New York City, I was immersed in all things Jumper – the walls, the rugs and, of course, his new eyewear line. Creations from all his new partners were in full display – blankets, scarves, bags and more. Guests were drawn to look at items as if in a fun, interactive museum. Each limited-edition frame from OPR was one-of-a-kind and screamedluxury. At the same time, I was literally walking on his art incorporated into beautiful rug, all while surrounded by his paintings.

While kinetic energy swirls around him, Jumper took a moment to share what he is working on for Art Basel- Red Dot Miami. “The new pieces I am creating for the show are all part of my Celestial series. I always create my art with the purpose of instilling thoughts of happiness, peace, love, and acceptance. This is especially important in today’s new and disturbing political and social media-driven world. And what I want to convey at the show.”

Jumper is onto something: a beautiful piece of art is just the beginning of this mission we all need to embrace to start healing our world. At least that is what I think and why I so connect with this incredible person.

Jumper Maybach is an artist, but he is so much more. His art, his world, is really about a beautiful way of seeing. That means anyone can jump into his growing world of art and, we should.  Go buy a pair of glasses and share his vision. You may just see things in a new way.
